I purchased this unit to supplement my frig's ice maker. I thought it would be really good especially on the weekends with guests and visitors to the pool. When it arrived , I cleaned it out per the instructions and hooked it, but the ice tasted awful even after running it for a couple of days, so I took it apart and cleaned it again and rinsed it out with baking soda and that did the trick. It makes ice pretty quickly and fills up the basket fast. My only complaints are the ice cubes, even on "large", are kind of small and hollow which makes them melt quickly and they are "wet" so if you put them in your freezer into a container or bag, they get all stuck together unlike the cubes from your frig's ice maker which come out "dry" and don't stick together. However, for using directly in drinks,pitchers,blenders or even a cooler, they're great and convenient. I haven't run out ice since !! Overall, I'm satisfied with the unit.

Don't get me wrong, I like the machine but it has its drawbacks. The ice cubes at their largest size are hollow and bullet shaped and small. Need a lot of them if you want to make a frozen drink therefore this is not the product for you.

Also, it is quite noisy and takes quite a while to fill its tiny basket with cubes so dont compare this to the ones you make in a tray. Over all though, it does work but I am finding myself using the ones from the tray in my freezer, not this heavy, bulky machine. I gave it 4 stars because it pretty much does what it says it is going to do.
